When you run WorldClock, the main window presents you with a map of the world. You can click anywhere on the map to select that area's time zone. You will see the selected zone time display (the right pane) update to reflect the UTC hour shift as well as the local time in your selected zone. Alternately, you can select an area/city in the listbox at the bottom of the screen. As stated previously, the program takes into account whether or not DST is in effect in the selected time zone. If so, you will see a little 'sun' icon appear just to the right of the time zone display. You will also notice that once you have select a time zone, the 'Select Place in Zone' popup menu item (the popup menu is shown on the right) is filled in with all of the places associated with that specific time zone.

WorldClock Screensaver is a wonderful screensaver that shows a map of the world. You also can set it to show the time of multiple cities of the world, together with a calendar and a clock. The application is very easy to use and intuitive, and very customizable. Among the general options, you have the possibility of showing the sun and moon, map center, and night shadow, selecting the translucency and translucency color. What is more, the time panels can also be customized. You can select how you want to display the time, font, font color. As for the calendar, you can also customize the font characteristics, choose to circle today's date or not and even mark holidays. Other settings include its position on the map, style (corner, row or column), number of months you wish to include and public holidays. Finally, regarding the clock, you can customize its color (silver, blue or white), translucency, and position on the screen. The clock is simple, but very nice. It would be great if you also could customize the exit condition, as it exits with any action.
In short, WorldClock Screensaver is a great screensaver that offers lots of features and definitely deserves a try. |
